Buckling analysis of magneto-electro-elastic nanobeams resting on elastic medium based on nonlocal elasticity theory abstract

In this study, buckling of electro-magneto-elastic nanobeams resting on a Winkler-Pasternak foundation is analyzed. An analytical theory is presented based on Timoshenko beam theory. Size effects are considered by using nonlocal elasticity theory of Eringen. Hamiltonprinciple is employed to obtain the governing equations of nanobeam subjected to magnetic, electric and mechanical loading. Also the magneto-electro-elastic coupling effects are considered to define the governing equations of nanobeam. Navier’s solution is employed to solve governing equations for simply supported boundary conditions. Effects of nonlocal parameter, Pasternak shear coefficient, Winkler spring coefficient, external electric and magnetic potentials and length to thickness ratio on vibration of magneto-electro-elastic nanobeams are investigated in details. Numerical results are verified by comparing with those available in literature. It is found that buckling of magneto-electroelastic nanobeam can be controlled by adjusting the nonlocal parameter and external electric and magneticpotentials. Increase in Winkler-Pasternak foundation coefficients leads to increase in the critical buckling load of magneto-electro-elastic nanobeams.
