Risk Assessment of Pesticides for Water Quality Concerns abstract
Human-caused contamination of water reduces its usefulness to humans and other organisms in nature. Pollutants and hazardous chemicals can make their way into our water supply. Commonly used pesticides can be harmful to people, pets, and the environment. The problem with pesticides is not only due to toxicity of some pesticides, but also due to the sheer volume of them used every year. A pesticide's route and rate of entry into the environment, as well as its degradation characteristics, is the key to understand and predict its potential impact on surface and ground water resources.
