Abstract:

ckground and Objective: Cancer is very important health problems in the world. Besides the developed drugs and anti-cancer agents, utilization of natural compounds has been emerged as new horizons in the cancer therapy. Resveratrol is a polyphenol which is produced in different plants such as grapes, berries and peanuts. This natural compounds shows various pharmacological effects such as anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and anti-oxidant activities. Given than resveratrol exerts its therapeutic impacts via targeting a variety of molecular mechanisms. Among various molecular targets which are affected by resveratrol, MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are major targets. Search Method: Electronic search carried out using the Resveratrol, MicroRNA, and Cancer keywords in the databases PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar and SID to find any related article by the end of 2018. Findings: Our results indicated that resveratrol exerts its ant-cancer impacts via affecting on various miRNAs (i.e., miR-21, miR-155, miR-221, and miR-222). These miRNAs regulate different cancer related genes such as NF-κβ, AP1, STAT3, and PTEN. Conclusion: Taken together, our findings confirmed that miRNAs are key target for resveratrol, and resveratrol can show anti-cancer effects via modulation of miRNAs involved in cancer pathogenesis.
