Platelet lymphocyte ratio and severity of Aortic Stenosis

Background: Platelet to lymphocyte (PLR) is a novel inflammatory marker that is now known for inflammatory diseases and cardiovascular diseases. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between PLR and calcification aortic stenosis (AS) and its severity. Methods: This retrospective study was performed on ۵۳ patients with severe aortic stenosis and ۵۰ patients with mild aortic stenosis and ۵۲ controls. PLR level was calculated from CBC. The University s Ethics Committee approved this study and we received the IR code. IR.KAUMS.REC.۱۳۹۵.۱۳۱. Results: The PLR in the severe AS (۱۰۸±۶۶) and in the mild AS (۱۰۳±۴۳) and in the control group (۱۱۰±۵۰), which was not significant (P = ۰.۸۱۳). In this study, the NLR inflammatory marker was also studied which was severe in the AS group of ۳.۱۳ ± ۲.۳ and in the AS group was mild to moderate ۲.۰۸ ±۰.۷ and in the control group was ۲.۱±۱.۳ , which was significantly higher in the severe group than in the other groups (P = ۰.۰۱۹). Conclusion: In this study, PLR did not have a significant relationship between groups, But the NLR in the AS group was more than the other two groups.
