Abstract:
In this work CFD simulation has been used for achieving the optimize turbulence model for prediction of fluid flow through the hydro-cyclone. Four different turbulence models, Large Eddy Simulation (LES), Detached Eddy Simulation (DES) and Reynolds Stress Model (RSM) have been applied and the results have been compared with the reported experimental data. The obtained results illustrate that the LES and DES methods have more agreement with the experimental results in comparison with RSM model. Moreover, accordance of tangential velocity profile at the regions near the wall and near the core of hydrocyclone with DES method prediction is better than LES method. But in the middle zones LES approach prediction has less divergence from the experimental results relative to DES prediction results. Furthermore, the computational time in DES method is lower than the LES. As a result, the DES method has been recommended as optimize method in simulation of turbulence flow through the deoiling hydrocyclone
