Abstract:
A parallel high accuracy simulation code is developed to model the unsteady free surface flow field around an Air Cushion Vehicle (ACV) by solving the incompressible Navier –Stokes equations in general curvilinear coordinates system. To model the free surface flow the volume of fluid (VOF) method along with lagrangian propagation in computational domain is implemented. The coupling between the continuity and momentum equations is affected using the well-known SIMPLE algorithm. In order to use parallel computer architectures, domain decomposition method has been used. To balance computational load among processors in homogenous and heterogeneous environment, static and dynamic load balancing is used. Results showed that the two-phase flows can be parallelized with the same efficiency as one-phase flows. Hence, developed parallel VOF algorithm has been quite good. Also the efficiency and speed-ups obtained from executing the parallel program for different kind of domain decomposition and several grid points are presented.
