Abstract:

Background and Objective: Over the past few years, Porcelain veneers have been presenting on the ground of the most conservative and the best treatment in aesthetics-restorative dentistry for Amelioration of unsound anterior teeth, which are: damaged, malformed, discolored, misshapen, cracked or have diastema, with minimal or without enamel reduction. At this moment in time, for the reason of high demands and concerns of patients for having minimally invasive and painless treatment’s procedures, Ultra-thin Laminates which are an improved form of porcelain veneer, also as thick as contact lens, but have perfect durability, are pronounced as one of the ultraconservative and favorable treatment. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and compare the clinical effectiveness of Ultra-Thin Laminates along with porcelain veneers, as a best solution for defective anterior teeth treatment.Materials and Methods: Our search is based on relevant articles (up to 20-Dec 2018) that included: case reports, original research and reviews that issued in PubMed, Medline, NCBI and Google scholar search.Finding: Nearly all related studies that compared ultra-thin laminates with porcelain veneers, declared the solid evidence of that ultra-thin laminates are non-invasive, furthermore, the original tooth will be left unchanged, also the treatment’s procedures are painless and quick-drilling. Moreover, the patient’s willingness is more in comparison with using the veneers.Conclusion: According to the majority of relevant articles, depending on both dentist and patient’s situations, there are statically significant differences between employing of Ultra-Thin laminates in place of using porcelain veneers; it can conclude that ultra-thin laminates provide a reliable and successful outcome.
