Abstract:
Cu2O nanoparticles was synthesized in the presence of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and cetyltrimethylammoniumbromide (CTAB) under microwave irradiation and has been studied as a non-enzymatic glucose biosensor. Itsmorphology was characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Cyclic voltammetry andchronoamperometric measurments were performed to evaluate the electrochemical behaviour of glassy carbonelectrode (GCE) modified with Cu2O nanoparticles in alkaline media. Cu2O modified electrode exhibited widelinear amperometric response to glucose in the concentration range of 5 M to 12 mM with high sensitivity of371 μAmM-1cm-2 and low detection limit of 5 M.
