Abstract:

Background: The aim of this study is to compare the technical factors of male and female handball teams of world cup 2013. Materials and methods: In this study, 48 handball teams (24 male teams and 24 femaleteams) participating in world cup 2013 have been compared in terms of technical factors. Thecomparison was conducted based on the comprehensive statistics on the competitions released by the International Handball Federation and the respective countries. Chi-squareand independent t test were run to analyze the data at 0.01 level of significance. Results and Discussions: The results showed that among effective handball factors, themean of factors (the number of goals, shots, 6-meter goal, corner goal, 9- meter goal, 7- metergoal, counterattack shooting, goal assisting pass, two minutes suspension, received shot, all shootings, 6-meter shooting, corner shooting, 9-meter receive, 7-meter receive, 7-meter shooting, receive of counterattack and counter-attack shot) had no meaningful difference;however, the mean of some factors including 6-meter shooting, corner shooting, technical error, steel technique, 6-meter receive, corner receive and 9-meter shot had meaningfuldifference. It, therefore, seems that the equal percent of these technical factors in both maleand female Olympics handball players constitute a good model of performance for all handball players throughout the world who want to measure their accuracy against atouchstone. The significant difference in the counterattack shots may relate to greater strength and endurance profile in male than in female athletes. Conclusion: Therefore, it seems that female athletes require more practice to improve their strength and endurance in this regard.
