Abstract:

The present study is an attempt to extend the concept of power and subject through emphasizing on the concepts of resistance, objectification and fear. To Foucault, the idea of objectification is going to transform human beings into subjects as a result of existing power on somebody. In his works, he explains power dominating on someone who suffers from resistance in a way he is forced to be silent against his demands and becomes a matter of obedience in which leads to madness. To understand a concept of Foucault s power requires understanding of some other concepts like freedom and fear. This analysis aims to elaborate Michel Foucault s concept of negative power through Aziz Nesin s short story The House on the Border , in which power is a kind of authority on some objectivized individuals who resist against it but they finally have no choice but to succumb to the pressure of high ranking or crucial people. Through the application of Foucault s theories, this article represents that subject and power issue is a crisis in which some societies are involved and some govern freely through people of having no power.
