Abstract:
1. Contamination of water and nitrate solutions is one of the environmental problems in many areas of the earth that can lead to dangerous diseases in humans and serious damage to the environment. Therefore, reducing or eliminating nitrate compounds is an essential task that can be accomplished using different methods. For the past three decades, the use of advanced oxidation in the treatment and removal of pollutants has been a subject of worldwide interest and new research is ongoing. These processes include chemical, photochemical, photocatalytic and electrochemical methods, all of which can be described as ultrasound, Fenton, pseudo-Fenton and Photon-Fenton processes.2. The method investigated in this study is the simultaneous use of ultraviolet radiation and nano particle ZnO as a catalyst for the removal of nitrate. The influence of various factors such as nitrate pollutant concentration, test time and amount of catalyst used was investigated.3. According to the analyzed values, the nitrate removal rate was obtained. By mathematical calculations the nitrate removal percentage was obtained. From the obtained values it can be concluded that the optimum amount of nanoparticles can be used due to the high cost of the adsorbent.
