Abstract:

dimension, and chemical compositions to supply desired catalytic, electrical, optical and mechanical properties for wide choice of applications. Utilization of environmentally benign solvents, nontoxic chemicals, and waste materials are some of the key topics that merit significant consideration in a green synthetic strategy.[1]In this context, our present study provides a proficient, scalable, biogenic, cost-effective procedure for the synthesis of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs). In a typical synthesis, the saffron flower waste were washed thoroughly with deionized (DI) water several times and then sun-dried at room temperature. Later the 0.5 g powder immersed in 100 ml of deionized water at 80°C for 1 h and the extract was vacuum-filtered. For the synthesis of MNPs, at first, 3 ml of the obtained extract was added into 8 ml of 50mM aqueous solution of FeCl2 at room temperature, then 10 ml NaOH 0.1M was heated at T=80°C for 10 min and was added into above solution. After that the solution was stirred for a further 20min at T=80°C .The products were centrifuged and washed several times with DI. The impact of various parameters such as the amount of the extract, FeCl2 concentration, the reaction temperature and time were evaluated by conducting several sets of experiments to obtain the shortest time of magnetic separation. After characterization of the biosynthesized MNPs, the catalytic activity of MNPs against methylene blue (MB) dye degradation were also evaluated.
