Aerodynamic Performance Investigation into Waverider Geometries Having Different Number of Inlet Ramps at Hypersonic Flow abstract

Two-dimensional CFD analysis and case-study of three pre-defined waverider configurations having different number of inlet ramps, is carried out at the hypersonic regime of Mach number 5; in an attempt to investigate the merits and demerits of increasing the number of inlet ramps on a waverider geometry, from a design vantage point in case of aerodynamic efficiency and flight stability. The parameters studied for each geometry, are the total, pressure, and viscous aerodynamic forces, moments, coefficients, and ratios accompanying detailed contribution percentages of the pressure and viscous forces towards the generation of the total lift, drag, and pitching moment in all of the geometries under study. Detailed results, considering fundamental purposes of the current work, are extracted.
