As time goes by, increase in world energy demand forced oil and gas companies to drill deeper in order to produce more oil and gas for satisfying human need s. this requires drilling layers with various lithologies and dealing with more drilling problems as going deeper . drilling problems will impose lots of costs and non-productive time to the operators. to bypass drilling problems a mechanical earth model MEM should be developed . a mechanical earth model composed of rock mechanical properties , lithology , pore pressure profile and orientation of stress filed among depth. this model will be used for analyzing instability of the wellbore wall, selecting optimized azimuth and inclination for well trajectory, optimized perforation , sand production analysis and stimulaiton operation design. as well deepens pore pressure pressure and formaiton fracture profiles approach to each other and selection of the mud weight becomes more crucial in order to have safe drilling operation without kick hole breakout and pack off. actually occurrence of each drilling problem causes increase in drilling time and reduced drilling efficiency . on other hand , drilling multilateral and deviated boreholes which are favorite to increase production rate, are challenging in hole stability issues , very sensitive tomud weight and azimuth of the wellbore.
