Abstract:

‭Following the main project of identification of essential oil composition of Iranian aromatic plants, the essential oils composition of the five Iranian aromatic plants have been investigated in this project: The dryied leaves of Laurus nobilis 1. were coUected from Noshahr (Mazandaran Province) and also Tehran ( National Botanical Garden of Iran) in May 1998 and steam distilled separately in a Kaiser apparatus. The oils were analyzed by CGC-Fill and GCIMS. Thirty-fIVe compounds were identified in each of them among which 1,8-cineole (44.0%, 48.5%), (1.- terpinyl acetate (15.6%, 12.5%), sabinene (10.3%, 9.5%), (1.- pinene (4.30/0, 4.4%), ~-pinene (3.70/0, 3.2%), lina1001 (5.2%, 1.0%) and terpinene-4-01 were the major constituents, respectively. Myrtus communis 1. was collected from National Botanical Garden of Iran. Dry and Fresh leaves were steam distilled separately and thirty-one compounds were identified in their essential oils among which 1,8-cineole( 23.4%, 17.9%), a-pinene (22.40/0, 29.1%), limonene (19.2%, 21.5%), linalool (11.7%, 10.4%) and linalyl acetate (6.1%, 4.8%) were the major cnstituents, respectively. Dry leves of Hymenocrater elegans Bunge were collected from Firoozkooh and steam distilled. The produced oil was injected to GC and GC/MS and Thirty-nine compounds identified among which germacrene-D (10.2%), ~- caryophyllene (9.7%), a-humulene (6.9%) were the major constituents, respectively. Fourty-two compounds identified in the essential oil of Geranium rotundifolium 1. among which (1.‬ص‭terpinyl acetate (39.3%) and pulegone (27.7%) were the major constituents. The essential oil of Tanacetum polycephalum Schultz-Bip was analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Camphor (46.3%), borneole ( 15.0%)8-cineole (9.0%), camphene (7.9%) and isobornyl acetate (4.9%) were the major constituents, respectively.‬
