Abstract:
in the present investigation polyacrylonitrile (PAN) was grafted onto pectin backbones by using ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) as an initiator. then the resulting graft copolymer (Pectin-g-PAN) was made as alkalion hydrolysis to produce superabsorbent hydrolysis using NaOH solution.the nitrile groups of Pectin-g-PAN structure were completely converted to a mixture of hydrophilic carboxamide and carboxylate groups during alkaline hydrolysis. The structure of copolymer and resulting hydrogel was confirmed through FT- IR spectroscopy and SEM. the synthetic parameters effecting the swelling capacity (such a NaOH concentration, time and temperature of hydrolysis ) were systematically optimized to achieve a hydrogel with swelling capacity as high as possible .maximum water absorbency of the optimized final product was found to be 523/6 gr/gr. also, study manner swelling of product in different solution salty. introduct the results that decrease swelling capacity with increasing of ionic strength. farthermore, the swelling of superabsorbant hydrogel was measured in various solutions with PH values ranging from 1 to 12 finally, study kinetics swelling different size 100 - 400 mμ ingredient of hydrogel.
