Abstract:

Avian metapneumovirus (aMPV) causes rhinotracheitis in turkeys and can lead to upper respiratory tract infections and head swelling syndrome in poultry. Studies have shown that infection with aMPV causes significant economic losses in the poultry industry. Methods: Based on this study, which was performed by RT-PCR method to detect aMPV infection in broiler flocks in Mashhad, 20 broiler chickens from each flock of 5 samples were sampled using tracheal swabs in poultry clinic. RNA was extracted directly from the swabs, and all 5 swabs of water belonging to a herd were eventually became a sample.Complementary DNA (cDNA) was fabricated during the RT step using Randohexamier oligonucleotide and M-MULV reverse transcript. The PCR technique was based on the N gene, and by using general Nd / NX primers. Results: At the end of the study, aMPV infection was detected in 30% of the samples (6 out of 20 herds) and the results showed that the virus was infected in broiler chickens in Khorasan Razavi province, Mashhad. Conclusion: According to our information, this study can lead to the identification of subtypes of this virus in the country and ultimately better control and prevention
