Abstract:

Over the last fifteen years, global markets have become familiar with the word halal and a prevailing understanding that refers to food products that are “permissible” and “lawful” according to Islamic jurisprudence. Halal industry in IRAN has experienced significant development, especially in the food industry. The halal industry is based on a belief that Muslims should eat food and use goods such as cosmetics that are "halalan toyibban", which means permissible and wholesome. In fact, the halal market is non-exclusive to Muslims, and has gained increasing acceptance among non- Muslim consumers who associate halal with ethical consumerism. This study aims to analyze the challenge and opportunists of the halal food industry in IRAN .The method use to achieve the objectives of the study, a methodology of analyzing secondary data was adopted in this paper. The sources of all secondary data and information were extensive literature review, library search, and a number of different websites, online journal publications, conference proceedings, thesis, different institutional reports and publications. The study results show that the development of the halal food industry in IRAN was triggered by the increasing demand for halal certification and quality assurance, development of the sector. Also the main purpose of this study will create the understanding for future development described to better organizing between production and trade of halal food. Iran is located within Middle East region, has added potential benefit with presence of major areas of production and consumption. This is a great opportunity for industry to be able to meet the high demand for halal food.
