Abstract:
The large eddy simulation (LES) approach has recently undergone considerable progress, making it move from a fundamental research tool to a prospective one. Indeed, LES can now be used to elucidate physics of many complex flows. In this paper, LES in a periodic channel at Reynolds Number ۳۰۰۰ (based on bulk density and bulk flow velocity and half the width of the channel) and subsonic mode with a Mach number ۰.۵ is numerically studied. Smagorinsky Model (SM) for modeling the Sub-Grid Scale (SGS) for compressible periodic channel flow. In order to simulate turbulent flow within the channel a computational fluid dynamics code is developed. Furthermore, a computer program based on the compact finite difference method with high precision, accuracy four times to simulate the turbulent compressible flows has been prepared. Comparing the obtained results based on the numerical models with existing experimental data shows a good agreement, as well as, results show a good performance of compact finite difference discretization method applied in turbulent flow, hence, it can be used as an efficient method
