Abstract:

This study aims at how using video clips can enhance the listening skill of high-school students studying English with the aid of educational video clips and how their attitude is towards the use of those video clips in teaching listening skill in an EFL context. The sample of the student population for this study was ۱۴ second grade secondary high-school students with different majors from two schools (a Fani-o-Herfeii school and a Kar-o-Danesh school) from each involving two classes in the second semester of the educational year of ۸۱۴۲/۸۱۴۲ in Nir city, Ardabil province, Iran. They were selected by simple random sampling and also some of them left because of no intention. This study was conducted over ۵ teaching periods. The one-group pretest-posttest design was used in this study. Lesson plans, English comprehension tests (pretest and posttest) and, a questionnaire of the students’ attitude towards using video clips were used as the main tools of this study. After analyzing research data, the results showed that, the students’ English listening comprehension ability enhanced significantly after being taught with video clips and most of the students had positive attitude towards using video clips in teaching listening skill
