Abstract:

It is assumed that foreign language learners are more properly motivated to learn when receiving peer correction. The current study was an attempt to investigate whether peer correction had any significant effect on the grammatical accuracy development of oral reproduction among Iranian English literature students. To this end, based on an Oxford placement test, ۶۰ students were selected and assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group itself was divided into ۲۰ females and ۲۰ males. After participant selection, a pretest was administered. During the course, the training was run by the teacher thorough peer correction in the experimental groups. The control group received teacher correction. The oral reproductions of selected students were tape-recorded and transcribed. At the end, the pretest was administered as the posttest to compare the performance of the participants. The obtained statistical data were analyzed through SPSS ۲۴. The results revealed that peer correction affected positively the students' development of the grammatical correctness. Moreover, the findings showed that female experimental group outperformed their counterpart in the posttest. The study suggests the agency of the students for their learning.
