Abstract:

Introduction: Platelet to Lymphocyte Ratio (PLR) has been recently raised as a prognostic indicator for predicting cardiac ischemic events leading to mortality and morbidity. The present study aimed to evaluate the value and capability of PLR in predicting the coronary artery involvement as well as cardiac systolic dysfunction in patients with acute coronary syndrome.Method: in this cross-sectional study, primary characteristics of patients were extracted by reviewing the records of patients with the diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome and under coronary angiography. The information on patients’ echocardiography and coronary angiography were extracted from their records. The severity and extent of coronary artery involvement were determined based on GRNSINI criteria. The PLR value was determined at the admission time. Finally, the data collected were analyzed using SPSS V.۲۱ software. Results: there was significant and positive correlation between PLR and GENSINI score (P=۰.۰۰۵). Average PLR value in patient with wall motion involvement was higher than those without wall motion involvement (P=۰.۰۰۴). There was reverse and significant correlation between PLR and LVEF (P=۰.۰۰۱). There was strong significant relationship between PLR and LVESD (P=۰.۰۰۱). In the multivariate linear regression model, PLR was also predicator of the high values of GENSINI score and therefore, it was related to the severity of coronary artery involvement (P = ۰.۰۴۹).Conclusion: PLR is considered as an important indicator in predicting the severity of coronary involvement as well as left ventricular systolic dysfunction. But it seems that this indicator is not desirable in predicting cardiac wall motion involvement.
