Abstract:

Today, nanotechnology is one of the new and attractive branches of materials engineering. Nanomaterials have a high surface-to-volume ratio due to their microscopic dimensions, which is why they create unique properties in this type of material. Nanomaterials have wide applications in various fields such as medicine, industry, environment, energy, etc. Silver nanoparticles are one of these materials that have many applications. Drug compounds or antibiotic resistance, which are the factors for the survival and multiplication of microbes in harsh environments, cause the emergence and persistence of microbes and bacteria. Therefore, the search, modification, and development of antimicrobial compounds that have antibacterial potential against bacteria, microbes, and viruses is an important and necessary part. Silver nanoparticles are among the most widely used nanomaterials in medicine and medical engineering due to their antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, etc. properties. Silver nanoparticles are a new hope for treating human pathogenic bacteria that have developed antibiotic resistance. This research has been conducted on the advantages and disadvantages of synthesizing coatings containing silver nanoparticles. These nanoparticles are synthesized in different ways, such as physical synthesis, chemical synthesis, etc. Some of the essential methods will be discussed. Although these nanoparticles have disadvantages, the unique properties of these nanoparticles have made them widely used in the field of materials engineering. In medical engineering, specific applications of silver nanoparticles include biosensors, antibacterial coatings, medical imaging, etc., which we will discuss in this study.
