Abstract:

Knowledge of the principal characteristics of elite athletes in sports (depending on the type of sport) is important in order to identify talent and optimize training programs. In other words, the physical characteristics of athletes, in addition to not being able to distinguish individual differences between them, may lead to the selection of people with inappropriate use and physical characteristics. Recognition of this skill in adolescence and youth is special in the process of discovering and cultivating talents. On the other hand, finding talent in a timely manner during adolescence causes the best players to be selected and raised under the supervision of the best coaches and trainers, and it is clear that the possibility of success is very high. So the aim of this study was t: Comparison of Principal Anthropometric, Biomechanical, Physiological, and Psychological in Adolescent and Young Male Volleyball Players.۳۰ elite volleyball players (۱۵ teenagers and ۱۵ young people) who were members of the Iranian national volleyball team participated as subjects. ۳۶ anthropometric parameters, ۱۱ biomechanical, ۲ physiological and ۶ psychological characteristics were measured. The normality of data distribution was evaluated using Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistical test. In descriptive statistics, mean and standard deviation were used and multiple correlation coefficient and principal information analysis (PCA) were used to determine the main features. Finally, Independent Samples T-Test was used to obtain the differences between the main anthropometric, biomechanical, physiological and psychological characteristics of elite groups (p≤۰.۰۵). The results showed that there were significant differences between the main anthropometric features (including contractile arm environment and triceps fat) and physiological (maximum heart rate) in elite adolescent and young male volleyball players, but there weren’t any significant differences between other variables. It seems that the reason for not observing a significant difference in the measured physical characteristics is the existence of a very small age gap between the two groups of subjects, so, maybe it can be concluded that the difference in technical and tactical skills due to training and more experience is a more important distinguishing feature of physical factors in adolescents and young adults.
