Abstract:
Wood structures are vastly used in various places. However, there are a few weaknesses in this type of structure. Failure around dowelled joint zones, which is common in both seismic and monotonic loads thanks to stress concentration, is focused on in the current study. A new reinforcement method based on adding composite tube reinforcement at the joint hole is introduced and compared with patched reinforcement. It resulted that by the new reinforcement the structure can bear ۵۰% more load, a similar enhancement to that of patch reinforcement. However, by adding both reinforcements ۱۰۰% increase was seen in yielding load
