Abstract:

Titanium and its alloys are among the widely used materials in the medical, aerospace and automotive industries. Modification of the surface properties of titanium components Can improve their application. Additive manufacturing methods have made it possibleto manufacture complicated parts faster and with more accuracy than the traditional manufacturing methods. Althoughfaster additive manufacturing processes have unique flexiblility in making parts with complex shapes, they suffer from limiations that resteicts their applications. The relatively rough and uneven surfaces of the as manufactured parts is one of these limitations. Formation of defects such as gas voids, especially ing the powder based methods and creation of tensile residual stress, decrease the quality and properties of the parts produced by these methods. That is why it is necessary to carry out post- processing opertations to increase the quality of additive manufacturing parts. Surface post-processing opertations are one of these operations and can be performed in different ways. In this research, electropolisghing method was used to improve the surface roughess of Ti-۶۲۴۲(Ti-۶A۱-dSn-۴Zr-۲Mo) alloy parts made by electron of the parts were investigated usning laser roughness measurement and scanning electron microscopy studies. It was observed that surface roughness decreased from ۶۳۰ to ۱۵۰ micrometers with the increase of electropolishing voltage and time.
