Abstract:
Numerical simulation of a natural draft dry cooling tower (NDDCT) has been conducted with OpenFOAM software. Temperature variations of the NDDCT are validated with a three-dimensional numerical simulation of the flow in the cooling tower. Both height and temperature of the heat exchangers are examined. The various curvature of the tower wall has also been compared. Results show that, by increasing the height of the heated wall, the heat transfer area increases. Therefore, by increasing the heat transfer area, the efficiency of the cooling tower increases. It is found that, by increasing the temperature and curvature of the tower wall, the efficiency of the cooling tower increases.
