Abstract:

This basic research was conducted using a qualitative research synthesis technique to propose a conceptual model for the role of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) as a knowledge management tool. The research population includes documents retrieved by searching the reliable scientific databases (n=۱۳۵). Using a criterion sampling method (۲۰۱۴-۲۰۲۲) a total of ۳۸ sources were selected. Theoretical saturation of themes was reached by the ۱۸th sample. The required data were gathered using the library research method. The collected data were then analyzed using a thematic analysis technique. Finally, a total of seven experts were selected using a purposive sampling method to approve the final model after modifications. Based on the research findings, the following sub-themes were obtained: Dissemination of professional knowledge, modernizating of knowledge, ease of access to knowledge, independent learning, ability to adapt education to changes, creating a platform for social interaction, and creating social security in the learning environment.
