Abstract:

in this paper a one dimensional model is proposed to simulate transient flow in a deformable pipe using time splitting projection method TSPM specific form of mass and momentum equations are used to consider the deformation of the cross section of the pipe due to change of pressure in addition brunone model is used to study the effect of unsteady friction on water hammer wave shape and attenuation. results of the proposed model are compared with results of laboratory measurements for water hammer cases with laminar and low reynolds number turbulent flows in a simple reservoir pipeline -valve system moreover numerical stability analysis is done to ensure that the model is numerically stable.
