Abstract:
Due to its high surface activity, activated alumina is used as a catalyst in the removal of hydrogensulfide from natural gas by the Klaus method. Desulfurization by Klaus process has a special place inscientific research in terms of economy and environment. In the present work, active nano-aluminacatalysts were prepared for use in Klaus process catalytic reactors. The catalysts prepared usingaluminum monophosphate and aluminum nitrate were shaped into granules with high mechanical andthermal strength, and resistant to abrasion, to withstand the operational conditions of Klaus. Theanalysis of the specific surface area for the prepared catalysts showed that the value of this parameteris about ۳۵۰ m۲/g with the distribution of pores in the form of mesopores. In this work, activated nanoaluminawas made by sol-gel method using sodium aluminate as a precursor, and the resulting nanopowderwas studied using BET and XRD analyses.
