Power allocation control among distributed generation sources in islanded microgrid abstract

The rapid growth of electricity consumption and the unresponsiveness of the traditional structure of the power system have drawn attention to new methods of energy production in the form of distributed power generation. The microgrid, which includes a number of these sources along with electrical loads, proposes a new structure for the power grid, which, with the ability to be fed from the national power grid, as well as independent and island operation, turns the power system into an active and flexible one. The inability of some resources to quickly follow load changes is one of the challenges of power allocation in microgrids. In this paper, the dynamic performance of distributed generation sources has been considered in order to improve following load changes. The proposed method has been applied to a sample microgrid and its performance has been investigated. The simulation results show that by providing a time-varying modified droop structure, a new model of power allocation between dispatchable distributed generation sources in the island microgrid without using an energy storage system is provided. By using the introduced method, active power allocation is improved in transient conditions in the microgrid and the frequency stability of the network is maintained.
