Abstract:

Introduction: Injuries caused by the penetration of needle heads and sharp objects are considered one of the most common and major occupational hazards among healthcare workers, which cause mental-psychological tensions and increase occupational stress, as well as the transmission of infections such as immunodeficiency virus. human and hepatitis B and C, which will be transmitted through the blood and secretions of an infected person. Materials and methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in the year ۱۴۰۰ among ۲۱۰ medical staff of Bistun Hospital, Kermanshah, and the sampling was a census, and the people under investigation included nurses/midwives/operating room/intelligence/auxiliary forces and services and personnel involved with the patient. With the cooperation of the hospital's safety and infection control unit, after obtaining the necessary permits, the available data was collected and entered into spss۲۴. Findings: Based on the results obtained, the prevalence of occupational exposure among hospital employees was ۶۸.۴۲%, and with the analysis of the results, women did not experience occupational exposure more than men, and this problem occurred more in employees with less than ۵ years of experience. and one of the factors affecting it is work experience, awareness and sufficient knowledge of infection control measures and safety in compliance with personal protection and carelessness and burnout.Conclusion: The results of this research showed that the level of occupational hazards caused by needle heads and sharp objects is high in this hospital, and holding cunning training courses and increasing awareness and changing the workplace and observing the principles of prevention can be effective in reducing these hazards
