Abstract:
Metal organic frameworks (MOF) are organic-inorganic hybrid materials with highly regular and adjustable porosity that have been studied and investigated in various interesting fields. Roselle calyces extract are mainly composed of phenolic compounds which can be used as coordinating ligands to form metal complexes. This can be proved useful in analytical chemistry. In this contribution, we were interested in the synthesis of a zirconium-based MOF, namely, UiO-۶۶(Zr)-NH۲, and its functionalization with Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) calyces, as a popular natural source, extract. Various spectroscopic and microscopic techniques such as Fourier transforms infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, power X-ray diffraction (PXRD), and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to characterize the obtained solid and to check MOF stability during the process. These results were proved that the MOF structure is stable and maintained its primary structure after the postsynthetic modification.
