Abstract:

Ensuring safety in construction site layout planning (CSLP) is crucial for safety management in construction projects. Unlike previous studies that focused on safety objectives without analyzing detailed risk factors, this study transforms CSLP into a multi-objective optimization problem. Two safety objective functions are designed based on facility safety relationships (potential risks arising from interaction flows) and geographic safety relationships, both of which consider the holistic interpretation of the interaction relationship connecting temporary facilities. Furthermore, a supplementary cost reduction objective function is also developed, as cost is a significant barrier to safety improvement. A tri-objective ant colony optimization-based model is then created to solve the multi-objective optimization problem. Finally, a case study is used to verify the proposed model. This study enhances the safety implications of CSLP by considering onsite safety issues from interaction relationships and improves the site safety of CSLP in the pre-construction stage.
