Abstract:
The thermal conductivity of reservoir rocks is a critical parameter in geological and petroleum engineering studies. This study examines the significance and application of thermal conductivity across various fields, including geothermal prospecting, petroleum system modeling, and enhanced oil recovery methods. Moreover, this study delves into different approaches for measuring this parameter and highlights the need for a robust and efficient method to obtain accurate results. The methods for measuring rock thermal conductivity, such as experimental methods, drilling cuttings measurements, experimental correlations, numerical simulations, and machine learning modeling, were investigated. The research discloses that each method has its own strengths, weaknesses, and limitations. Therefore, the appropriate method should be chosen based on the prevailing circumstances.
