Abstract:

Mobile-assisted language learning (MALL) has become increasingly popular in recent years as increased people rely on their mobile devices for daily communication and information. This research explores the various MALL techniques available and their effectiveness in improving language learning outcomes. This study employed a mixed-methods research design to investigate the use of MALL on speaking fluency, a case study of Iranian EFL students in Zahedan. The study used qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis techniques to understand the phenomenon comprehensively. The participants of this study were English language teachers and students aged ۱۳ to ۱۶ years old from public and private schools in Iran. Data was collected using a variety of interviews, observations, and narrative task speaking ability assessments. The interviews were coded and transcribed for themes and patterns, and the observation data were analysed thematically to find any challenges or benefits of using MALL in the context of Iranian language education. The results of the interviews showed that MALL can be a powerful tool for developing speaking skills in English language learners, and educators need to adapt and integrate these tools into their teaching practices.
