Abstract:
The change of soil properties has drawn a lot of attention in the recent century due to the rise in construction on a global scale. In recent years, researchers have discovered that the chemicals used to stabilize soil, both in the production and consumption processes, create pollution and environmental damage. For this goal, soil stabilization with the help of environmentally friendly microorganisms has garnered a lot of attention during the last two decades. Researchers have been drawn to this approach because of its lower energy requirements, capacity to minimize processing time, and versatility to be used in a variety of soils. The changes in the geotechnical properties of clay and sandy soils have been analyzed in this article by reviewing laboratory experiments test on soil improvement by biotechnology. Biological improvement in sandy soil improves soil strength and decreases permeability, while in clay soils, the unconfined compressive strength increased, but the same conclusion cannot be drawn about the parameters of the clay soil's Atterberg limits. Biological improvement of sandy soil reinforced with fiber can also be considered as one of the effective methods of improvement, based on the published findings
