Abstract:

Synchronous generator excitation control system is one of the most important parts of power system control. On the other hand with development of electric power systems, conventional PID excitation controller has been unable to meet the requirements of dynamic and static operating performance of system, in order to overcome this shortcoming; in this paper a new type of intelligent methods based on fuzzy-PID control improved by binary genetic algorithm is presented. The simulation result shows that the proposed improved fuzzy-PID based excitation controller has a better ability of controlling, and offers a new approach for the intelligent control to be applied in excitation control of large synchronous generator
