The Degree of Acceptance or Non-acceptance of Official Gender Identity from the Point of View of Ethnic Groups

This research examines the level of acceptance or non-acceptance of official gender identity among ethnic groups. It answers these questions: Are the financial and non-financial sources of identity formation among the Turks, Kurds, and Lors related to the acceptance of official gender identity or not? Is there a difference between these three nations in the degree of its acceptance or non-acceptance?An experimental method has been used to answer these questions. The statistical population of the research is ۳۷۷ male and female students, ۱۸-۲۹ years old, of the bachelor course (first and second year) from three ethnic groups, Kurds, Lors, and Turks, living in the dormitories of Tehran universities. The quota sampling method and the data collection tool is a questionnaire. The results of the findings show that there is a relationship between the sources of identity formation and the acceptance of official gender identity. Among the sources of identity formation, religious adherence, gender, and ethnic gender stereotypes explain the most changes in the dependent variable, and Kurds have the least and Lors the most agreement with the official gender identity.
