Abstract:

Conventional internal combustion engines are a major cause of pollution and major source of emission of gases such as NOx, CO and other major greenhouse gases such as CO۲ and NO۲. In order to reduce the emission of pollutant gases, innovative ways are utilized like; injecting water or steam in the combustion chamber in order to reduce the temperature of the combustion and reduce the production rate of gases like NO and CO, which their production rate highly depends on temperature. In the current study a Wankel engine is modeled and compared to a conventional internal combustion engine. In Wankel motor the time that gasses spend in the combustion chamber is reduced so the time for formation of pollutants are limited. Thus, emission is controlled. Wankel engines have less combustion temperature and pressure ratio comparing to ۴ stroke reciprocating internal combustion engines
