Emerging Underwater Acoustic Sensor Technologies abstract

This article explores novel underwater sensor technologies and their applications in marine exploration. To this end, the primary objective is to analyze the capabilities of Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSN1) and identify the challenges and opportunities present in this field. The article delves into acoustic sensor methods and related communications, presenting key findings that include the environmental impacts on collected data. The results indicate that UWSN are employed in numerous areas, including water quality monitoring, natural resource exploration, natural disaster management, military surveillance, and tsunami and storm prediction. Furthermore, challenges such as operational limitations and the need for the development of new protocols in these technologies are examined. Finally, the article offers suggestions for future research and practical applications of these technologies, aiming to advance knowledge and technology in underwater sensors, and charting new horizons for researchers in marine exploration and aquatic environmental monitoring.
