The Rocky Road to English Proficiency in Iran: Overcoming Systemic Barriers after Reforms abstract
As the importance of English proficiency grows for Iranian students' academic success, public schools face difficulties in improving students' ability to communicate in the language. Despite efforts to prioritize conversational skills in the curriculum in 2013, the desired outcomes were not fully achieved. This article will discuss the problems and challenges that arose after the reforms, followed by an examination of the accomplishments made over the course of ten years. Finally, potential solutions to address the flaws or shortcomings of the reforms will be proposed.
