CO2 sequstaration in depleted oil reservoirs abstract

There are several approaches to reduce/solve the problem of climate change due to the increasing emission of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, including the absorption and Sequestration of carbon dioxide in underground layers can be an effective technology to reduce the effect of greenhouse gases. This process involves collecting carbon dioxide produced from industrial sources such as power plants and injecting it into geological formations such as depleted oil reservoirs or deep underground aquifers. To ensure the safety and efficiency of the well and reservoir, it should be evaluated before Sequestration. Depleted oil reservoirs have huge storage capacity, existing infrastructure and availability of subsurface data such as porosity, permeability, permeability and rock type, are attractive places for carbon dioxide capture and Sequestration. Also, well information such as injectability, geomechanical parameters, including well structure condition (well conditions, cement conditions behind the tubing, tubing conditions, wellhead conditions), which affect the stability and overall performance of the carbon dioxide injection process are available.
