Abstract:

Translation Studies has faced gradual changes during the time. One of the most tangible changes worldwide is related to the trends and research methods in translation. The present work was carried out towards introducing a new model concerning Translation Studies trends, claiming that this nascent discipline begins with different aspects of Descriptive Translation Studies, gradually oriented towards translation aids, such as IT applications or translation software and then brought into the realm of translation criticism, which inevitably includes one of the sub-branches of Descriptive Translation Studies, namely the process, product or function of translation. Thus, it has been tried to present the ones working in the field with a systematic set of steps taken, questioning the back to square one-ness of Translation Studies trends.
