Controllable current density in graphene superlattice abstract
Using transfer-matrix method, this paper has investigated electronic transport properties of charge carriers in monolayer and bilayer graphene superlattices modulated by a homogeneous electric field. It is found that current density as a function of external field depends on the Fermi energy and the external field showing an oscillatory behavior. In other words, the current density in monolayer and bilayer graphene superlattices can be controlled by changing either the external field or the Fermi energy. Meanwhile, the graphene superlattice displays a negative differential resistance for some ranges of the external field. Furthermore, the current density raises monotonically by increasing the external field.
