Abstract:
A simple, rapid and sensitive method was developed using silver nanoparticle (Ag-NPs) catalyzed flow-injection chemiluminescence to detect quercetin, a non-cardioselective β-blocker. It has been found that quercetin strongly inhibits the chemiluminescence of luminol-H2O2 catalyzed by AgNPs. Under optimum conditions, a linear working range for quercetin concentrations from 5×10 −8 to 5.0×10 −6molL−1 (r> 0.9894, n=5) was obtained with a detection limit of 1.4×10 −9 molL−1. The relative standard deviation for 6 repetitive determinations was less than 3.2% and recoveries of 98% and 102% were obtained. The Ag-NPs were synthesized using watermelon juice as green route. The method was successfully applied to detect quercetin in honey samples.
