Abstract:

The study aimed to investigate harp as one of the musical instruments names in the English and Persian version of the Masnavi with semiotic attitude, to discover the translator’s attitude toward this musical instrument name as the sign and semiotic entity of the original text in its rendering and to examine Hatim and Mason (1990) suggested approach for semiotic translation of the extracted element of selected corpus. The findings obtained from the textual analyses of the related data showed that in most cases, the translator almost succeeded to preserve the signs and semiotic entities of the original text in their English renderings and to convey nearly the same intended meaning of the ST in his translation. Hatim and Mason model has accounted well for semiotic translation of the signs and semiotic entities from Persian to English in selected corpus. Also, the most important stage of Hatim and Mason model was the first one i.e. identification
