Abstract:

The dynamic behavior of the Self-Excited Induction Generator(SEIG) is greatly affected by various faults at generator terminal. Voltage build-up is an important phenomena in the self-excited generators. The existence of symmetrical and asymmetrical faults in the SEIG terminal may stop the voltage build-up at SEIG terminal and cause instability. In some cases despite the fault at SEIG terminal, it may continue to produce voltage and remain stable, in this cases, usually part of the generator nominal power is delivered to the load. In this paper the effects of main and cross flux saturation has been investigated for load perturbation, phase to ground, phase to phase and three phase short circuits, opening of one capacitor, opening of two capacitors, opening of one phase and two phases of the load.This model takes into account the complex specific phenomena such as magnetic saturation, skin effect in the rotor bars etc so, the results of the proposed method are more accurate than the other analytical methods
