Abstract:

Energy consumption in transportation sector could be the result and impact ofapplying different policies in comprehensive management of public and privatetransportation system. Significant increase of all types fuel (alternative fuel)consumption in developing countries, and inevitable impact of energy prices onsupply and demand of fuel make the present type of study a vital research projectfor enhancing economic condition of these nations. Assessment of Validity ofStated and revealed preference survey in transportation planning can be oftencomplicated task for planner so using of real preference survey has beenproposed in this study. Interdisciplinary knowledge of information technologyand transportation, traffic engineering can provide an innovative survey withmore accessibility and updatability of data collection in Home Interview Survey(HIS). For preventing the current flaws in analysis of travel demand modelsprovided by activity based approach or household travel behavior, fuelconsumption modeling has been proposed in this study. Significant increasepresence of strong correlations between vehicle fuel usage and trips quantity byexogenous and endogenous variables has been proven in this study by monitoringrefueling data for almost 15 years in Shiraz city of Iran. Models with specificemphasizing on fuel consumption and energy matters can be recognized assuitable substitute for previous convectional models.
