Abstract:

P olypropylene luminescent fibers were produced through melt spinning using different amounts of phosphor strontium al uminate (SrAl2O4: Eu+2, Dy+3) as a luminescent agent. Thermal behavior and photoluminescence properties of fibers were studied. Fibers were also dyed and the effects of increasing the amount of nanoparticles on dyeability of polypropylene fibers were investigated. From differential scanning calorimetry results showed that melting and crystallization temperatures of na nocomposite fibers did not change in the presence of luminescent agent. From photoluminescence spectroscopy results, it can be observed that a broad peak with a maximum at 550 nm which was corresponding to phosphor strontium aluminate and with increasing the amount of phosphor nanoparticles, the luminescence intensity increased. The results of spectroscopic reflection showed that by increasing the amount of particles in the nanocomposite fibers, the dyeability increased.
